Faithfulness

Faithfulness. My parents just celebrated a milestone. Their 66th wedding anniversary.

Sixty-six years traveling together across oceans. Living in tropical urban centers and American towns.

A journey marked by great joys. Victories.

And deeply painful losses. Hurts. Dark nights.

The thread running through it all? Faithfulness.

Faithfulness.

hope

The one who speaks truth finds himself walled in. Weighed down. Worn out.

No hope. Only the crooked path. And a deep pit. Face in the gravel.

Affliction. With no end in sight.

This. When he’s fearlessly made known God’s ways. And wept over the judgment of a disobedient people.

Jeremiah laments.

Untraceable ways

The shifting in our souls comes unbidden. Change is on the way. Undefined and unexplained. Untraceable.

Yet we know.

This surprises. Perplexes. How do we leave the incomplete? People we love? Those yet to turn and follow Christ?

We bring questions and loose ends before Him. Wrestle in prayer. Wanting specifics, really.

Silence.

Mystery and wonder. Image by Benjaminrobyn Jespersen on Unsplash.
