Stone hearts

Soul exhaustion sets in. Unexpected.

Byproduct from observing those who scorn the cross. And reject the gospel.

Stone heart resistance catches my breath.

So, I pray.

Stone hearts

Father, You see. You know.

Help me to hope. In the face of hopeless response.

To keep believing. When stone hearts resist. Or just don’t care enough to care.

The hardest place, perhaps? Sheer nothingness behind a facade. Whether adrift in chaos and not caring. Or floating away on meticulously-ordered lives.

Without an anchor. Without Christ.

Altar

On days like this, I come in feeble faith. Wondering. What do You have in mind?

How does this end? When will eyes open? Hearts soften and respond?

And the altar sits. Illumined by Your true Word.

As Your servant, I cry out to You. Ask the questions.

Then, simply surrender. Trust the solid Rock in society’s storm. Stand on our steadfast foundation as earthquakes continue.

And keep speaking the gospel.

Courage

Give me courage when I encounter stone hearts. To trust the One who turns stone to flesh.

You and Your truth are enough. Always enough.

“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will remove your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. I will place my Spirit within you and cause you to follow my statutes and carefully observe my ordinances.”
Ezekiel 36:26-27

My soul breathes.

What about you?

How do you pray for those resistant to the gospel?

Jesus likely experienced the same soul exhaustion so well described in your article, but still He gave His life that we might be reconciled to God. His prayer, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do” seems all the more poignant as we watch society crumble while rejecting Him still. Praise Him for the indwelling of the Holy Spirit Who guides us into all truth and opens eyes and ears to receive His truth.

Sometimes the anger and carelessness of the world overwhelms me. Thanks for reminding me to look up to The One who writes my story!

Dear one, how much I have encountered these hearts. But this gives me hope today! Thank you for encouraging me! Love you!

I would love to hear from you!
