Taxi driver

Our taxi driver offers to give us a brief tour of the town where we’re staying. On an island in Chile.

Four of us pile in and go along the narrow village streets. First, climbing gravel roads to park at the top of a hill.

An overlook.

Breathtaking view of the ocean.

In cold October winds.

An overlook in Chile.

Broken pieces

In December, a treasured necklace from Japan falls on the floor. Breaks.

And I get on my knees. Gathering broken pieces. Fragments.

Trying to put the puzzle back together. But it sits.

Incomplete.

So I place what remains in a bowl. Not ready to give up on it yet. Perhaps a shard or two skittered under a cabinet.

Broken pieces.

Be anxious for nothing

Anxious thoughts. Skirting the edges. Almost incognito.

Fears. Simmering just below the surface.

Concerns for loved ones and various situations. Rippling through as world crises ramp up.

Then, His Word. Memorized long ago. Invades with precision. Cutting through the muddle.

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God” (Philippians 4:6 NASB).
