Stay the course

Stay the course.

Hold on. Hold fast.

Endure. Persevere. Keep walking His path.

We hear these instructions but sometimes hesitate to take that next step.

So, to the inexperienced, anxious about what’s ahead, the Lord repeats “Be strong and courageous…” (Joshua 1:9).

Tossed to and fro

This is not a case of grit your teeth. Or grin and bear it.

No, our own abilities to be strong and courageous are severely limited. Tossed to and fro by gale-force winds of doubt.

Facing relentless assault by the enemy at times.

Fiery darts aim at the mind. Triggering anxious thoughts. Questions. Fears.

Only He can provide what is needed to stand firm.

And stay the course.

So, keep abiding in Christ. The only way that makes sense.

His Truth is clarity. Focus.

His face remains calm and peaceful in the midst of storms and wild waves.

His Word stabilizes when news is off the rails. Holding us securely in earthquake zones. And tsunami-force waves.

Only He can help us stay the course amid wars and rumors of wars.

“The one who lives under the protection of the Most High

dwells in the shadow of the Almighty.” Psalm 91:1

Now, that’s security.
