menopaused 2

As promised last year. I offer writings from the menopaused years. Heart cries penned in the margins.

The titles are telling: Wait. Stillness. Hope. Broken. Challenge. Winter. Rhythm.

For those currently traveling through this particular season of life, take heart. Nothing can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:37-39).

Heart and soul

In the realm of heart and soul,
You ask for all.
Hands open,
I give the
fragmented,
flawed,
incomplete all
that I know.
You receive.
Tenderly. Welcoming
broken parts,
scattered pieces
of a repentant,
believing
heart.
You save the sin-sick soul.

Broken bowl and the Potter

The simple Indonesian rice bowl broke.

It was a “free with purchase of dish detergent” blue and white china bowl. So common and ordinary. A reminder of my childhood.

But it slipped from my hands, hit the marble countertop in our Delhi flat and broke in two. The last straw in a long day, week, month…year.

And I broke.

Ordinary, simple vessel on the floor in pieces.

Plain rice bowl on batik.
