Earthen vessel

Through the years, Paul’s description rings true. God forms the earthen vessel for a purpose.

To display His truth. Reveal His glory.

Somewhere along the way 2 Corinthians 4:7 becomes a life verse for me. A reminder of my weakness and His strength. What I’m here for.

But one year, I wrestle with that image. In a new way. Because someone I always consider strong is suddenly weak.

Coming through the night

Motionless. I sit. In sunlight. Stilled by loss and grief spilling across screens and down streets. Through personal stories of friends and strangers. Hard and sad.

Bitter wounds. Raw pain rooted deep. Laid bare.

Motionless. I wait. Stilled by the scale of it. What are we to do? Hands rest, palms up.
Eyes lifted to open sky between tall trees.
Wordless cry to the One I trust.

Eyes lifted to open sky.

The beginning of wisdom

The Proverbs 31 woman. You know who I’m talking about. The description of her daily life has never been an easy read for me.

Don’t get me wrong. I like her ingenuity. I admire her levels of achievement. Her evident wisdom. Truly.

Think about it.
