Restlessness

Restlessness rumbling. Grumbling.

Surfacing from somewhere. Deep.

An itch to move stirs my search for other settings.

Wondering if and when we’ll leave this place for another.

Global nomad

Is it the learned response of a global nomad?

Moving every few years.

Sometimes reluctantly.

But mostly anticipating adventure.

Something new.

Restlessness

Yet, on this day I hear. Loud and clear.

Dwell in the land. Cultivate faithfulness.

Invest where you are.

Notice those around you.

You are here. Now. For a purpose.

Restlessness, be still.

Putting down roots

I should know this.

After so many years of learning to “live permanently in the temporary place.”

Putting down roots. Investigating culture. Pursuing relationships. Exploring the land. And its people. Finding beauty.

Seeking wisdom. Using gifts. And bearing fruit.

For His glory.

By His Spirit.

Faithfulness

It’s not rocket science.

But faithfulness.

Listening.

Obedience.

Taking the next step.

Celebrate

So, when the rumbling starts. And grumbling surfaces my restlessness, help me recognize the distraction.

And celebrate this place.

This moment in our lives.

This assignment.

For Your glory.

What about you?

Do you ever find yourself longing for the next place? What helps you put down roots where you are?

And I thought it was just me! Yes, longing for the next, the new, and the not yet. Knowing that He has me here for a purpose that I may not see keeps me grounded.
I am not my own. I’ve been bought with a price and will stay grounded until He beckons me onward.

I think I lean the opposite direction – asking God if I can stay! I have to regularly sit before Him with open hands and remind myself that His plans are always beyond my imagination!

Thank you for sharing this side of it, sister! In the end, whether we’re restless to stay or go, it’s a matter of surrender and submission to His way. And a good time to sing Romans 11:33-36 🙌🏼

I haven’t moved a lot. But I need to pray more for contentment in Him in whatever circumstances I am in. Especially when in times that are difficult and not what I want.

Good point. Our restlessness might not be about a change of location. But in everything to find our satisfaction and contentment in the only One who never changes, who provides all that we need for today. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for reading. I'd love to hear from you!
