Beggars at the gate

Beggars at the gate take their chances.

And decide, whether it means food or death, they’ll surrender.

They’re going to die anyway in the midst of siege and growing scarcity.

So they head to the enemy’s camp.

Go and tell

They arrive to find the enemy camp empty of people. Already cleared out by the Almighty.

And it’s full of treasure. Food. Drink.

After two-tents-worth of eating and drinking and hoarding, they make a decision.

“We’re not doing what is right. Today is the day of good news. If we are silent and wait till morning light, our punishment will catch up with us. So let’s go and tell the king’s household” (2 Kings 7:9).

Beggars at the gate

We’re all beggars at the gate—thinking surrender might be our death.

And it is.

But there is untold treasure. Sheer abundance. When we seek and find.

Our submission isn’t to some enemy holding us hostage. Keeping our city under siege.

Yet people often fear. “What will God do? If we put our lives in His hands?”

Come and see

Beggars at the gate discover the Truth of the matter is astounding. Beyond comprehension. True treasure.

And amid of such grace and mercy, beggars realize, “We can’t keep this to ourselves. It’s a day of Good News!”

Today is not a time to stay silent, but to proclaim the Light to those who dwell in palpable darkness. Share the Bread of Life with people suffering spiritual starvation.

Today is the day to say, “Come and see what the Lord has done.”

What about you?

Did you fear surrender and submission? When was your day of Good News?
