God who reveals

He is the God who reveals. And draws people to Himself.

At the school where our children study in Singapore, a woman sees the invitation for mothers to gather and pray.

So, she comes. Curious. Seeking.

I speak her heart language. So we meet later. And I explain the gospel.

In a subsequent meeting, she repents and believes.

Crossing Cultures Making Disciples Memoir

In flight

The young man apologizes as we get up to let him through to his window seat. We have a long flight ahead. Fourteen hours or so.

Beforehand, I’ve asked for a heart attentive to His prompting. And for willing availability, boldness to share the gospel.

It’s not my first thought on airplanes lately, to be honest. I’d rather chill in my own little world. Enjoy the extended “pause” from daily tasks.

But as he’s seated, I pray for wisdom. To listen and obey.

Memoir

empty skies

Empty skies. In the days following 9/11/2001. The flight pattern over our home in Virginia—suddenly silent.

My husband was traveling in West Africa at the time. He called and I wept. We felt the distance in the midst of uncertainty.

Our world changed that day, but we drew near to the One who never changes. Held on to His Word. And Joshua 1:9 became our family verse during that season.

“Haven’t I commanded you: be strong and courageous? Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
