And in the conclusion, he combines it with an unexpected word. Counter-intuitive.
“Therefore, dear friends, while you wait for these things, make every effort to be found without spot or blemish in His sight, at peace.” 2 Peter 3:14
Make every effort. While you wait.
In the midst of overwhelming challenges, we hold on to basic exhortations from Scripture. For clarity. And courage.
Maybe we’re wading in the rising tide of a pandemic. Or standing in the battle against racism and injustice, praying, “…let justice flow like water and righteousness like an unfailing stream” (Amos 5:24).
Hebrews 10 instructs us. Step by step.
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom…” (Proverbs 9:10). I was a child with childlike faith, starting to read my new red Bible on my own.
And Proverbs was my favorite.
