Death

Death is the deep shadow.

Chasm of uninvited separation. Abrupt change. And tangible loss.

I miss Mom’s voice. Her hugs. Her laugh. And her interest in every little detail. Her focus on what is true and good. Her enthusiasm for learning and growing. Her love for God, His Word. And her example in faithful prayer.

This week would have been her 93rd birthday on earth.

Remember

Remember. Somedays the forgotten pieces of life surface. In old journals. Handwritten letters. Conversations.

Pointing out one experience. Leading to memories of another.

Recalling things hidden. Lost in the pace and race of living life on this planet.

Finding stories lodged beneath the years.

Remember.

hope

The one who speaks truth finds himself walled in. Weighed down. Worn out.

No hope. Only the crooked path. And a deep pit. Face in the gravel.

Affliction. With no end in sight.

This. When he’s fearlessly made known God’s ways. And wept over the judgment of a disobedient people.

Jeremiah laments.
