Remember

Remember. Somedays the forgotten pieces of life surface. In old journals. Handwritten letters. Conversations.

Pointing out one experience. Leading to memories of another.

Recalling things hidden. Lost in the pace and race of living life on this planet.

Finding stories lodged beneath the years.

Remember.

Memories

Memories fade with time. Seasons. And traumas.

Yet. Somehow. Remain.

Tucked in for the long haul. Unseen by day-to-day life.

Then. Even a word tugs it out. From underneath. Where it’s wedged between boxes and files of the past.

Remember?

Remember

A sometimes-worrying word. In my forgetfulness. Whether that forgetfulness is intentional or merely fallen into. Signaling change and age.

Remember.

I circle back to see the true. And call out a myriad of ways He’s brought me to this present place.

Some lonely, crushing parts appear in the process. More difficult to rehearse than certain other portions.

Redeemer

Yet all of these rest in my story.

Pointing me to my Redeemer. The One and Only Lamb. Sacrificed for my salvation.

His flesh pierced. His blood shed.

Because God so loved the world.

Remember.

Remains

And in the memories, lost or found.

He is enough.

Through hurts and detours. The transparently obvious or the yet-to-be revealed.

He remains.

The One who shepherds me to hope.

“Now may the God of hope
fill you with all joy and peace in believing,
so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
Romans 15:13 NASB

What about you?

Have you struggled with memories forgotten. Or remembered? How has the Lord helped you remember our hope?

Something I’m preparing for is dredging up memories and it has been unpleasant. At the same time, I realize that I am not the same person and I survived that struggle and give thanks for God’s protection and His unchanging love!

I would love to hear from you!
