“O come…” from traffic-lined streets,
and checkout counter gridlock.
“O come…” from decorating, gift-wrapping, baking, and more.
Set aside to-do lists.
Release expectations.
Embrace expectation.
Come close.
Draw near.

Learning Sabbath.
Before
Ten Commandments arrive
engraved in stone,
the Most High God
starts teaching His people
an expectation.
And provision.
Sabbath.
For 40 years
of wilderness training,
He clarifies
this ongoing need
for true rest.
In Him.
With a little thing
called manna.
Advent. We light candles in the pauses of the season. Waiting.
At times we’re carried along by the crowd in motion around us. Rushing between this and that. We don’t want to be caught up in the shopping and glitter and expectations. But it happens. Again.
So we stop. Breathe. Consider what is true.
And waiting, we worship.
