Obedience

Make obedience a burden. Something to dread. Avoid. That’s what the world tries to do.

In today’s idol listings, personal fulfillment and independence rise up. Insisting we not be tied down. Or restricted by God’s commands.

“Too many requirements,” the world says.

Rhythm and order

Rhythm and order. Discipline. With a pattern specifically laid out for God’s people in the Old Testament.

Daily. Weekly. Monthly. Annually.

With sacrifices. Sacred assemblies. Festivals.

Divinely-designed schedules. Reminding them to remember. And honor the Lord their God.

As a people set apart for His glory.

Uncertainty

Travel plans so carefully made. Flights scheduled and booked.

Anticipating long-delayed reunions. After many covid19 restrictions. Requirements. Roadblocks.

Then, sudden uncertainty. Again.

Everything is up in the air.

Like the autumn leaves outside my window. Scattering in the wind. Landing who knows where.
