Fragments

Fragments of divided hearts scatter. In the winds of social media.

Bits and pieces of pride. Rebellion. Hate. Anger.

And the very avenues that can draw people together, turn and twist. Break trust. Splinter relationships.

Slander and gossip crowd in.

Calculated deception.

Articulated for the very purpose of division and destruction.

All

Divided hearts and minds reveal conflicting loyalties.

And the psalmist knows the danger. He prays, “Give me an undivided heart/mind that I may fear Your name” (Psalm 86:11).

The wisest king writes, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart….”

All. Not a fragment here, a piece there. All.

“…and do not rely on your own understanding.”

Don’t make snap judgments, depending on personal takes of what’s happening.

“…In all your ways acknowledge Him…”

There’s that word again. All.

With all your heart and in all your ways.

Cut through the fragments

Paul’s words cut through the fragments.

“But everything that was a gain to me, I have considered to be a loss because of Christ. More than that, I also consider everything to be a loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord…” (Philippians 3:7-8).

Everything.

Standing in society. Confidence in cultural upbringing or religious success. Counting detailed accomplishments. Having the last word.

Everything a loss. Because of the all in all.

His glory and knowing Him outshines all else.

Abiding

So trust and seek to know Him fully.

Wholly.

Not relying on personal credentials.

But abiding in Christ. Through prayer and the Word.

And living as members of His Body. Not separate pieces. But necessary parts of the whole.

He will do it

“…and He will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5-6).

He will do it.

In the twisted, broken streets of this world. Through the fragments of social media and beyond. He will lead us in His ways.

Give us undivided hearts, Lord.

We are Yours.

What about you?

What Scripture has the Lord used to call you back to an undivided heart? What gives you clarity in the fragments of messages in this world?

Our sermon today was titled 3 Truths and a Lie – and pointed out the deception that the evil one tries. Wholly following Truth is more important than ever!

It seems our minds are on the same topic. Satan’s way is all about just giving us bits and pieces, so we don’t have the whole of truth that is only found in the Whole of the Word.

I looked up your blog because of your article,”Praying for an Obedient Heart” in the WMU Mosaic. Your blog stroke a cord in my heart as I read some of your blog! I will subscribe.

I would love to hear from you!
