Psalms

Benedict of Nursia (480-547) first formed his Rule for the abbey he served in Monte Cassino, Italy.

Last year I grew curious about what this guide contained. And one particular practice caught my attention. It meant the monks of his monasteries lived on a steady diet of Psalms.

They repeated the entire book each week.

Christmas Crossing Cultures Memoir

City Christmas

Christmas season. Spent last year in a world-class city. One of our favorites.

All shiny and bright. Perfect lights. Colors on point.

Christmas soundtrack playing continually. In stores. And on the streets. Everywhere.

In an Asian city.

Why follow Jesus?

Why would someone risk their life to follow Jesus? Why give up all for Christ?

Eternal life with Him. Of course.

But so much more.

Across the years, we move. Entering new places. Living and learning in various cultures where following Jesus may cost everything.

And I consider a few of the many reasons for choosing Him. Why I can’t imagine life without my Lord.

Now and forever.
