Someday

When Someday seems too far, the fragile heart mourns. Torn. Tender.

Walking in the weight of sorrow.

Sitting in the dark.

And we cry out for rocky paths made smooth. The broken place, whole. Strong winds and high waves, stilled.

Longing to affirm the true. And say we are crushed but not in despair.

Slow walk in the Word

Read through the Bible in a year. I take the challenge years ago. And eventually it becomes a regular practice. Using various plans. McCheyne’s. Or our church’s outline for the congregation.

Sometimes I take a year. Other times, two.

The daily plunge covers a lot of ground through the Old and New Testaments. A big-picture look at Scripture.

The breadth and depth of His Word challenges and captivates me.

Crushed

The weight on my heart is not a frantic, anxious weight. It’s the weight of prayer.  Prayer for my dear friend who is suffering. She wades through deep waters in this season.  Crushed.

Crying out to You the hurt. The upheaval. The unknown.

And yet, even there she speaks of Your faithfulness. Even there, Your word sustains. Daily manna, she says. And ponders what the God of the impossible can do.

“If we believe He is who He says He is, how can we not hope?”
