Sent ones. Sowing seeds of the gospel.
Serving all across South America. For many, many years.
In 2022, we travel to Chile.
On our journey, we meet Chilean brothers and sisters in Christ. And hear stories. Testifying to the fruit of these servants who sowed seeds years ago and planted their lives.
For the glory of God.
“Jesus loves me”
A sent one preached the gospel to a group of people.
Then, he began singing a simple song. In Spanish.
“Jesus loves me, this I know….”
And the little boy, seated between his parents, listened. Says he knew immediately.
He asked Jesus into his heart at that moment.
Today, the little boy is a grown man. Serving as a pastor. Leading others to his Savior.
Sent ones
Over a meal, another man shares. “Let me tell you a story about a young girl.”
She came through the doors of a church. Poor. Lost. Didn’t know who her father was. Her mother was absent much of the time.
And the sent one? A single woman. She mentored the young girl. Taught her how to become a young woman.
Later, the young woman married. And another sent one taught the fatherless child how to become a good wife and mother.
“That young woman was my mother.”
Her son now pastors a thriving church in Santiago.
Change generations
Speaking the gospel clearly. Offering small acts of kindness. Coming alongside the vulnerable. Mentoring. Discipling young believers.
At the time, these sent ones have no idea how the fruit will multiply. And change generations.
But that’s the power of the gospel. And why we’re called to go to the ends of the earth.
And make disciples of all nations.
“The harvest is abundant, but the workers are few. Therefore, pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest. Now go…” (Luke 10:2,3).
What about you?
Are you willing to be sent wherever the Lord leads? Have you witnessed the fruit of faithful sent ones?

I have told stories of the faithful ones who mentored me when I arrived overseas. I recognize that today’s world is different is many ways, yet I firmly believe we need to be mentored and mentor others – possibly it looks different? I’m still looking for the fresh ways and asking God for wisdom!
