Some days we need a benediction.
Proclaiming who He is and what He does.
Anchoring hearts.
Stabilizing steps.
Resting weary souls.
Yes, some days we need a benediction.
God the Father
Praise God the Father.
The God of peace. Not just any peace. But the peace of everlasting covenant.
Because He is the God of resurrection power. Who sent His One and Only Son to die in our place.
So that any who believe in Him might not perish, but have eternal life.
God the Son
Praise God the Son.
The great Shepherd of the sheep who laid down His life for us. And leads us still. In paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.
Beside the quiet stream. Or through dark and turbulent waters.
But always. Always. He sets the table for us. In the presence of our enemies.
A table of bread and wine. His body. His blood.
Grace and mercy abound.
God the Holy Spirit
Praise God the Holy Spirit.
The seal of our salvation.
We ask and He equips us. With everything good. Everything we need. To do His will.
Filling these plain earthen vessels. Working what is pleasing in His sight. Teaching us to abide. Transforming us into the image of Christ.
That we may bear fruit.
His, not ours.
Benediction
Some days we need a benediction.
In the midst of wars and rumors of wars. Broken streets and hearts and lives.
Some days we need a benediction.
Invoking who He is and what He does.
Because the God of peace is still on His throne. Shepherding. Equipping. And working in us to fulfill His purpose.
For the glory of His name.
Amen.
“Now may the God of peace,
who brought up from the dead our Lord Jesus
—the great Shepherd of the sheep—
through the blood of the everlasting covenant,
equip you with everything good to do his will,
working in us what is pleasing in his sight,
through Jesus Christ,
to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.”

I have been meditating on John 14 – Jesus telling His disciples to trust Him. He knew that they couldn’t understand and promised them peace beyond understanding.
