Walls

Walls of Jericho stand tall. Towering.

Encircling darkened nations. Cities. Communities. Hearts.

Looming large and impossible in our eyes.

Stone upon stone. Holding firm.

In opposition to the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Walls.

Walls

Calculated distance. Hardened unbelief. Subtle, steady resistance.

Or dull, lifeless apathy. Not caring one way or the other.

Discouraging walls. And we ask.

Can anything ever change?

What’s the place of turning?

Where’s the ground of surrender?

Circling walls

We do not understand or know Your way in this particular circumstance. Or that certain situation. So we do what Your Word tells us to do.

Pray always. Circling walls and stony hearts. In a silent, steady prayer march.

Listening. Obeying what we hear in Scripture.

Walking in the Spirit.

Together

Your followers struggle along this narrow way. In the not-yet.

But we keep learning to abide in Christ. Through prayer and the Word.

We come alongside one another. Remembering and rehearsing, “Be strong and courageous.”

Together worshiping. Together believing.

Together.

Tumbling down

One day may these seemingly impenetrable walls come tumbling down. And the King of Glory enter in.

“Who is this King of glory? The Lord, strong and mighty, the Lord, mighty in battle.

Lift up your heads, you gates! Rise up, ancient doors! Then the King of glory will come in.

Who is he, this King of glory? The Lord of Armies, he is the King of glory. Selah.” Psalm 24:9-10

What about you?

Are you facing seemingly impenetrable barriers as you seek to reach the unreached? How has the Lord encouraged you in prayer?
