How can it be?
Rabbi. Healer. Friend.
Hanging in this place of death.
On a Roman cross.
Master, who loved in truth,
speaking life and light
to all who had
ears to hear.
How could it lead to this?
His hands
Betrayal.
By one of his own.
Then, accusations.
Beatings.
Crown of thorns.
Death sentence.
Finally, placed on the cross.
Nails hammered
in his hands—
those hands that touched
and healed the broken.
Hands that broke bread and
fed multitudes.
And—only one day before—
hands that washed
the feet of His disciples
—including Judas.
Near the cross
The women gather.
Wait.
Near the cross.
Near His terrible suffering
and excruciating pain.
Among them,
Mary Magdalene.
Once
full of demons,
darkness,
death.
Prisoner to confusion.
Without dignity.
Out of control.
How can it be?
But then,
He walked in.
That voice spoke.
And His Word
washed over
and through her.
Broke the chains
that bound.
Set the captive free.
Placing her feet
on solid ground.
Now, she looks up
at the cross.
Rabbi. Healer. Friend.
How can it be?
He has risen
Soon she will know.
In the early hours,
first day of the week.
When the angel
at the tomb asks,
“Why are you looking
for the living
among the dead?”
And speaks the words
that resound through
the ages.
“He is not here,
He has risen!”
He has risen, indeed.
How can it be?
The Lord, He is God.
Hallelujah!

Yesterday in our small group study, we mentioned Jesus’s telling His disciples of the events that were coming and how they didn’t understand. Someone said “we have the benefit of knowing the whole story.”
In so many other stories that we carry in our hearts, we are just like the disciples – so I prayed for faith to trust Him!
Thank you for sharing, friend!
