Uninvited fears press against the window.
And slip in through the cracks.
Seeping into the throng of thoughts populating our minds.
Hitching themselves to “what if’s” and “why’s” and “how’s.”
Fear not
But You say, “Fear not.”
A comfort. A command. A promise.
You remind us of Your Presence. And the victory in “never.”
Your “never” speaks power. Assurance.
Not “I will sometimes leave you.” Or “I will occasionally abandon you.”
No.
“I will never leave you or abandon you” (Hebrews 13:5).
Uninvited fears
When uninvited fears invade our minds. And try to take over the narrative.
Remind us Whose we are. Help us stand firm on Your promises. Putting on the full armor, so perfectly suited for Your children.
Belt of truth. Breastplate of righteousness. Gospel of peace on our feet. Shield of faith. Helmet of salvation. The sword of the Spirit—which is the Word of God.
And prayer. Always.
“Pray at all times in the Spirit with every prayer and request, and stay alert with all perseverance and intercession for all the saints” (Ephesians 6:10-20).
Hope
Oh, what a Savior.
Shining forth through the dark of uninvited fears. Alerting us to what is true and noble.
Turning our hearts from false scenarios to hope.
So, fear not. “And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:20).
What about you?
Do you struggle with fears? How has His Word helped you remember His Presence and provision?

I asked the ladies of our church to share blessings and thanksgivings with me this week and I read them during service between verses of Count Your Blessings. What an encouragement for me and I pray for the others too!
What a great idea! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you, Susan! I was recently asked to speak at a gathering and share what it was like to be a missionary. I am not a public speaker but am most comfortable behind the scenes. I agreed to speak with fear and trembling and a lot of prayer. I was nervous as I prepared. The morning of the event, I got ready and then paused to go over my speech one more time. As I set my timer and breathed one more prayer for help from the Father, an incredible peace and calm came over me that continued through the event. There is no doubt that the Lord took over. I am so thankful for the experience that grew my faith and drew me to my Father.
Thank you for sharing this, Debby. He is so faithful!
