Star bright

Star light. Star bright.

Catching the eyes of those who study night skies.

Radiance. Set apart. Outshining all the others.

Something unusual is going on. Beyond normal star patterns. And they mark the time of its appearing.

I look up in the early dark of winter sky. And think about those wise men long ago.

Bright star

Are they consulting ancient prophecies? Directed by the Spirit of God?

Somehow, they discern. This particular bright star signals royalty. The birth of a king.

Such insight compels them. Prompting a journey to seek and find.

The wise men travel west. Toward an unknown destination. With precious gifts on board.

Anticipating answers.

Palace

They stop at a palace along the way. For clarification. Asking directions.

At a logical location, to be sure. When you’re looking for a royal.

But this is not the place.

So they move on down the road.

To a little town called Bethlehem.

Wise men know

There. There they see. And are overwhelmed with joy.

For the star stands still. In all its brilliance. Shining on a specific place. Over the house where the King resides.

No palace, this. To be sure. But the wise men know.

He is the One.

They fall on their faces. And worship. [Matthew 2:1-12]

Light of the world

As we enter a new year, the Light of the world shines bright. In the night.

Every day people walk in darkness. But some start noticing His radiance. And wonder who He really is.

They begin a journey.

Walking the road to a place they do not know. Asking questions along the way.

Not always sure of what they’re seeking. Or why they’re here.

Keeping watch

Are we keeping watch in the night? For travelers on a journey toward the Savior?

Are we listening and ready? To point them toward the Son of God? Explaining the reason for the hope within us?

When they find Him, they will know.

And bow in surrender. Worshiping the King of kings and Lord of lords.

Bright Morning Star. [Revelation 22:16]

Keeping watch for those seeking Light in this overwhelming darkness – that’s a challenge we can all take on. Spiritual alertness is more powerful that our physical strength or intellectual prowess. Much to meditate on!

I would love to hear from you!
