Grumbling
against
leadership.
And
wilderness
living conditions.
Discontent
“if only”s
en route to
the promised land.

Heart of the matter
And Moses’ words
to the Israelites
cut to the
heart of
the matter—
“Your complaints
are not against us
but against
the Lord.”
(Exodus 16:8)
Discontent
Discontent
in my spirit,
I mutter
my “if only”s
about
a situation
we face.
Questioning
leaders’
decisions.
And are these
just and right
requirements of us?
Grumbling revealed
That morning
my grumbling meets
the sword of the Spirit
in Exodus 16.
A not-so-gentle
reminder.
Revealing pride.
Divided heart.
Critical spirit.
Teach me Your ways
My complaints
are against You,
Sovereign Lord.
I confess.
Repent.
And pray.
Teach me Your ways,
O God, my Father.
I want to know You.
And obey.
With all my heart.
What about you?
Have you struggled with grumbling? A critical spirit? How has the Lord cut to the heart of the matter in your life?

I read this passage today! It mixed in my heart with the passages from 1 Thessalonians 4-5 from yesterday’s worship – regarding Christ’s return. Both the Promised Land and the Rapture are beyond the imagination. God’s plans & desires are more – so much more! What I need to remember is to let HIS Words define my desires and let go of people’s ideas.
Thanks for sharing this, sister. Yes, so much MORE!
