Promises

Promises made and kept, anchor the heart.

Steady our steps.

Bring comfort in the dark. And courage for the day to day.

Wholehearted commitment and follow-through reflects and reveals the faithfulness of our God.

As we celebrate Christmas each year, my husband and I also rejoice in another anniversary. Remembering promises we made to one another.

Promises. December 1987.

Seasons change

Trees. Luminous in the forest. As the dying begins.

Letting go. Piece by piece. Leaf by leaf.

Orange. Yellow. Red.

Beautiful. And certain.

Seasons change.

Practicing

Hands in the dishwater. Scrubbing pot, pan, plates.

And the way of Brother Lawrence comes to mind. “Practicing the presence of God” in the midst of the mundane.

Speaking thanks in the ordinary helps me. To learn this way.

Practicing thankfulness prompts me. To notice His presence in common tasks and everyday occurrences. All along the daily path.

And the possibilities are endless. Leading me to look upward and outward.

“Let us enter His presence with thanksgiving…”
