November walk

November walk. In leaves and gravel.

After feasting.

We walk in memory and laughter.

Remembering.

And relishing the company in cold air. Clear and true.

November walk 2024.

Slow walk

This was a tradition Mom loved.

A slow walk after turkey and dressing.

Fresh air after pumpkin pie.

Outdoors replacing the indoor fragrance of Thanksgiving dinner with changing season breezes.

Arm in arm

Winter is coming.

And we pull our coats close.

Arm in arm, we walk. Through grass and leaves. Over the bridge and through the woods.

In golden light of autumn.

Thankful.

Note

On the Tuesday before Thanksgiving 2024, we held a Celebration of Life service for my mother. All the family gathered and many friends came. On Thanksgiving Day we took family photos and ate a traditional dinner. Then did what Mom always insisted we do. Every year. A family walk.

What about you?

How do you celebrate Thanksgiving where you live?

I have been blessed to be with the same family for many recent years and their traditions have become mine. It is a beautiful image of being adopted into God’s family!

Thanks for reading. I'd love to hear from you!
