Helpless?

Helpless?

Frail. Weak. In steady decline.

Yet held.

Cradled in the hands of

the One who holds stars–

and hearts, too.

Resting in the shadow

of the Almighty.

Seek You

We feel helpless.

But seek You.

Speak Your name.

Shepherd. Healer. King.

God of compassion and power.

Gentle. Strong. Good.

Tender. Righteous.

Holy.

Helpless?

Our Lord.

Never absent or neglectful.

Loving in all the right ways.

Giving what Your servants need,

when we need it.

Are we helpless? No.

Dependent.

On our ever-present Help.

The Lord your God

So, do not fear.

“The Lord your God is among you,
a warrior who saves.
He will rejoice over you with gladness.
He will be quiet in his love.
He will delight in you with singing.”
Zephaniah 3:17 CSB

And underneath

are the everlasting arms.

Alleluia.

Note

I wrote the first part in 2024 during my mother’s hospitalization. Then, this past week the rest poured out on the page as I reflected on days of sitting at Dad’s bedside in the hospital and in hospice care.

In his passing, God’s peace and comfort have sustained us. His people have lifted our hearts with their prayers.

He holds us fast amidst storms and in the quiet that follows the death of a loved one.

“Where, death, is your victory…” (1 Corinthians 15:55 CSB).

What about you?

Have you felt helpless? How has the Lord met you there and sustained you?

Sometimes feel helpless. Never feel hopeless. Always leaning on His everlasting arms, safe and secure from all alarms. Thank God for Jesus.
Keeping you and your family in my prayers, Susan. Am very thankful for you and for your amazing parents. Blessings on you today!

I was with both of my parents at their time of death. It was so hard. The assurance of knowing what happened next made it bearable. One day there will be no more death or dying. Praise Jesus!

Thanks for reading. I'd love to hear from you!
