Poor in spirit

Poor in spirit? It takes drawing near to You for me to understand.

In Your Presence, reality reigns.

Your light reveals empty substitutes for true riches encroaching.

Your Word speaks. Opening arrogant eyes. Unstopping stubborn ears.

Truth. Zeroing in on where I’m prone to wander.

Pockets emptied

I come to You. Pockets emptied.

Hidden reliance on cultural frameworks and comforts, exposed. Confessed. Released. And surrendered in light of Your truth.

To live is Christ. So, abiding is necessary. Through prayer and the Word, in the Body.

For, without You? I can do nothing.

Poor in spirit

I come to You. Poor in spirit.

Confessing. And navigating life in the shifting sands of culture and opinion and perceptions. Digital noise. Media clamor.

Asking for a heart that ever hungers and thirsts for righteousness and truth. A will bowed to my Lord and King.

And I stand. Held fast. Steadfast. On You, my Rock and my Salvation.

I am Yours.

What about you?

What have you learned about being “poor in spirit.” What hidden reliance has the Father revealed to you in the process of walking with Him?

Other passages today spoke similar themes – humble yourself before the Lord – good to evaluate my heart in His light!
